Village Chief Accepts Christ at 92

"When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them." (Isaiah 41:17)

Village Chief Accepts Christ at 92

If you asked him a year ago, Village Chief Mulenga may have told you that taking up his cross & following Jesus is not in his future. Yet, God had other plans for him — and for his village of hundreds of Malawians.

On September 7th, 2023, our RTH Malawi Mission Trip Team (alongside our RTH Malawi Staff) visited Chief Mulenga’s village. We showed God’s love throughout a whole day of serving the men, women, and children. That same day, Reaching The Hungry installed its 110th water well in Chief Mulenga’s village and the chief pumped the first bucket of water to a roar of cheers from the crowd gathered around.

And just like we do for every water well installed, we invited the whole village to a showing of the Jesus Film. That evening, hundreds from Chief Mulenga’s village accepted Christ as their Savior — including the chief himself at age 92!

This is the story of one chief, one village, one day. Countless stories just like it have been written throughout our history of serving in Malawi over the past decade. In Malawi, Reaching The Hungry is committed to cultivating physically & spiritually healthy communities by providing resources, outreach, discipleship, and missionary support — one day at a time. When a village chief accepts Christ at 92, it's because partners like you make it possible. We couldn’t do it without you, so thank you for being part of the Reaching The Hungry family.

A gift from you can help pave the way for more life-saving stories like that of Chief Mulenga & his village in the years to come. And Malawi's recent economic decline means your generosity matters even more. If you'd like to help save an ENTIRE village with clean drinking water, click the button below:
