GREETINGS FROM THAILAND
This is the fifth year since the LORD brought me to Thailand! It is very hard for me to put together details of every single ministry activity I have done the past year, but this letter will try to give you a summary of them:
NEW DEVELOPMENTS
I am now engaged to Eileen (a Chinese-American) who is also serving in Thailand as a missionary. We both feel called to serve in Asia for as long as the Lord leads us. Eileen and I are planning to get married next year on February 8, 2025.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
2024 has been a great year with a remarkable harvest for the Body of Christ within a people deeply rooted in Buddhism (Thailand). The Lord opened many doors and windows of opportunity for me. I, along with like-minded friends, reached out to many people on university campuses, high schools, kindergarten schools, and rural areas. We get to share the love of Jesus Christ with them, and we praise God for new brothers and sisters who have decided to follow Jesus Christ.
SPORTS MINISTRY
I recently pioneered a sports ministry with the main goal of using this as a tool/strategy for church planting. My goal is to use this as a bridge to connect with young people and their families and share the Gospel with them. I pray these sports centers will turn into Bible study groups as people come to Christ, and eventually, they will develop into house churches in all the communities and open the doors for the Gospel.
I currently have three soccer teams: I play on the adults’ team, and I coach a teenagers’ team and a kid’s team. Every time we meet, we do a short devotion with them, sharing with them the love of God and then play soccer. So far, three people have made a decision to follow Jesus Christ and others are interested to learn more about Him. In July, I just began a volleyball sports center within a school, where we do devotions and play volleyball with the students.
NEW CHURCH PLANT
The church that I help lead planted a new church about a 6-hour drive away, in the rural mountains. Brother Sila came from this village, and two years ago decided to go back so that he could share the gospel with his people. Brother Sila continues to share with us beautiful testimonies of what God is doing in the lives of people in his village. We are currently praying and mobilizing resources so that we can build a church for them to gather.
THE LOCAL CHURCH
I continue to serve alongside a local indigenous church. We currently have more than 30 members, with the majority being below the age of 30, whether as university students or recent graduates. We have three discipleship groups for the members who have openly made a decision to follow Jesus Christ. and one group for those who we reached out to and are now interested in learning more about God and Christianity. The church continues to grow, both spiritually and in number.
MENTORSHIP
I was privileged to be entrusted with a responsibility to mentor a group of three young short-term (6 months) missionaries from Ethiopia, Mexico and Kenya. Despite different challenges that we encountered as a team, I saw God working amazing things through this team in school outreach programs, campus ministry, sports ministry, and many other ministry opportunities which we were part of.
MOBILIZATION TRAINING
I was also privileged to facilitate and teach some classes in Mission Mobilization Training programs to pastors, mission coordinators and individuals sensing a call into frontline mission work. I taught in training programs in Thailand, Ethiopia, and in Malawi during my family visit.
MISSION TRIPS
The Lord opened another door for me to join a team of Reaching The Hungry missionaries from the US and those serving in Malawi. During the mission trip to Malawi, we installed one water well for a village which did not have good access to clean water.
We also did discipleship training for a multitude of small group leaders, children's and women's ministry, and also showed the Jesus film where I saw many lives coming to Christ.
